Treatment / Management of Cerebral Palsy

Treatment and Care for a child with cerebral Palsy are a long term process. It is aimed at ensuring the child and their family the best possible quality of life. A multimodal / integrated approach includes comprehensive re-habilitation, specialist medical care as well as psycho-social support. The aim of treatment for children with CP, regardless of causes, is to lead them towards the greatest degree of independence possible, and so to prepare them for as normal an adolescent and adult life as can be achieved. This is the aim of all treatments. The current treatment of cerebral palsy is also directed at repair of the injured brain and management of the impairments and disabilities resulting from developmental brain injury.
