Mentorship Program

Mentorship is a relationship program in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable professional helps to guide a new / less experienced professional. The mentor is always a senior professional than the person being mentored with certain areas of expertise. It is a partnership opportunity for learning and development between someone with more experience and other one who wants to learn

It is generally a face to face and time devoted sustained learning program.
The basic components of the mentorship program are as:

  3. Catalyzing
  4. Showing
  5. Harvesting

ICD provides professionals with a unique opportunity to receive training in Clinical Practicein developmental disability Management. TheMentees / trainee will be able to get in-depth knowledge inassessment, intervention and treatment effectiveness for children with delayed milestones and Developmental Disabilities during the intensive programs at the Institute for Child Development, New Delhi, India.

ICD’s Mentorship Program consists of two levels. Participants begin with the Level-I program. On successfully completing the level –I program, the participants may choose the Level -II Program after 6 months of clinical practice. Participants who demonstrate mastery of the program will receive a certificate of completion by the Organization. Program Levels will be completed sequentially and there is no maximum time limit between the levels of the program. The programs are conducted Onsite at ICD throughout the year

Level 1 Mentorship Program

Description
The participants observe children treatment sessions directly with ICD’s experience professionals using integrated approaches.  The treatment sessions are conducted by experienced professionals in the area of pediatric physiotherapy, pediatric occupational therapy, pediatric cognitive therapy and pediatric speech therapy.
Participants learn to apply clinical reasoning through live treatment observation and analysis with experienced professionals.

Participants learn about the newest assessment tools used in developmental disabilities management.

Objectives
The objective of ICD’s Level 1 Mentorship program is to provide participants with a basic understanding of the latest research in developmental disabilities management and the ability to perform or assist:

  • Screening
  • Diagnosis making
  • Assessments and Evaluations 
  • Treatment Planning
  • Goal setting- Immediate, Intermediate and long term
  • Utilizing clinical reasoning tools for intervention and home adaptation developed by ICD
  • Synthesizing information gathered from assessments and observations, writing treatment notes using clinical reasoning approach

Duration
2 Weeks (Starting Monday- finishing on next Saturday)

Program Cost
The cost for Level 1 Mentorship (Twelve-day program) is Rs 9000/-

Registration/Application Process:

  • Ask for the registration form through mail
  • Fill the registration in words and convert it to pdf
  • Send the filled form with complete information
  • Get confirmations by email within 5 working days regarding your acceptance into the program
  • Participant selection will be based on priority of applications received and previous work/educational experience.
  • Once found eligible for the course, a primary confirmation mail will be sent asking all relevant documents to send 
  • Once accepted into the mentorship program, deposit the registration amount online.
  • All participants will get one unique registration as the registration process completes 

Cancellation Policy
If ICD receives notice of cancellation:

- At least 4 weeks before the program start date, 100%  of the full tuition fee will be refunded.
- At least 2 weeks prior to the program start date, 50% of the full tuition fee will be refunded. 
- At least 1 week prior to the program start date, 25% of the full tuition fee will be refunded. 

If ICD receives notice to reschedule for another session at least 4 weeks prior of the date of start of he program, the total tuition fee will be adjusted to the next session  

Note : We need at least five participants to run the level-I program


Level-2 Mentorship Program

Using Advance Integrated Approach in Developmental Disability Management  

Description
Participants learn to use the advance scale and tools to assess and evaluates different childhood developmental disorders.

Participants get opportunity to practice the advance integrated approaches with children with developmental disabilities.

Objectives
The core objective of Mentorship Level-II Program is to provide participants:

To have detail knowledge and understanding about common developmental disabilities
3. Will be able to use the (Re) habilitation problem solving form for assessment and intervention purpose
4. Will be able to work together with the family and the child in planning and implementation of interventions
5. Will be able to identify resources in the community and family to improve participation of the child with developmental disability
6. Will be able to understand how an infant or child is diagnosed with delayed milestones / developmental disabilities
7. Will be able to understand and differentiate single-system and multi-system impairments
8. Will be able to understand what research has found regarding some of the therapeutic interventions used for treatment of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy, including:  strengthening, stretching, serial casting, splints/ Orthoses, and constraint-induced therapy
9. Will be able to discuss the role of different professionals in the treatment Childhood disability
10. Will become familiar with determinants of prognosis or outcome
11. Will be able to design treatment goals and interventions for the infant with delayed milestones or childhood disability
12. Will be able to formulate treatment goals and interventions for the child with CP and Allied disorders
13. Will be able to understand the importance of reducing primary impairment and preventing secondary impairment in the infant/child with CP and Allied disorders
14. Will be able to discuss the importance and significance of family involvement and key characteristics that must observed
15. Will be able to make a list of factors that must be addressed in preparation for the transition to adulthood in the adolescent with Neurodevelopmental disability

Who Should Attend
Only those participants can join this program who have already completed the Mentorship Level-I program
